Mozilla has released the next updates for Mozilla Thunderbird with versions 17.0.7 and 17.0.7esr (Thunderbird for Organizations) on June 25th, 2013. Fixes in this version include Various security fixes. Depending on the operating system and update settings (Tools > Options… > Advanced > Update Tab), users will be prompted to update within in the next 48-hours. Windows users can also go to Help > About Thunderbird and click the Check for Updates button. Users can choose to manually download and install Thunderbird via getthunderbird.com. The next scheduled release will be Thunderbird 17.0.8 and 17.0.8esr on August 6th, 2013.

Finally some good news about Windows 8. Microsoft has confirmed that the upcoming Windows 8.1 aka Windows Blue which is due for release later this year will be available as a free update (via the Windows Store) to all existing Windows 8 users. Richard Doherty, an analyst at tech research firm Envisioneering has compared Microsoft’s Windows 8 to Coca-Cola’s New Coke. Back in January Microsoft had announced they had Sold 60 Million Windows 8 Licenses. Again keep in mind that figure is licenses not actual physical copies of Windows 8.
