Though a lot of this seems obvious it sometimes to easy to over look some of these such as: ” 1. Use the latest version of Firefox. With every update comes more security. If you’re using an older browser, you’re putting yourself at greater risk. An update is so simple — either download the latest version or go to to Firefox > About Firefox to see if you’re up to date. 3. Know if the site is secure. There are two quick and easy things to look for when shopping a site. First, does the URL start with HTTPS (instead of HTTP)? And…

Thunderbird 17 due for release on/around November 20th features a redesigned user interface. Like Firefox, Thunderbird is going to have a cleaner and simpler user interface. This means by default removing the Menu bar (which can be brought back temporarily via the ALT key and restored by going to View > Toolbars > Menu Bar) and using an App Button/Menu like Firefox. However, unlike Firefox it is not a ‘Thunderbird’ button and it is not at the top left. Instead it is a little button with 3 horizontal lines on the far right (yet another design ‘borrowed’ from Chrome which…

Early last month we wrote about a change in the closing multiple tabs warning behaviour when using the option to close other tabs (even with the warning turned off in the preferences). Within the past week or so, Bug 772319 which was filed to undo this change was changed to RESOLVED FIXED with a target milestone of Firefox 18. This means starting with Firefox 18, users will no longer (as they didn’t get in the past) this warning when using the close other tabs function. The current work around is to use Tab Mix Plus 0.4.0.3 add-on. Firefox 18 is scheduled for…
There may be a point where you want to ‘reset’ AdBlock Plus back to ‘factory defaults’. This can be the case where you are blocking something you don’t want to and can not figure out how to unblock it or AdBlock Plus is mis-behaving (can happen to any add-on). So, how do you reset AdBlock Plus, is it just a matter of uninstalling the add-on then re installing? Not quite, there ara a couple steps in between uninstalling and re-installing AdBlock Plus. Here is what you need to do to ‘reset’ AdBlock Plus: From the Add-ons Manager (Firefox Menu > Add-ons…
